Before you write
What Nameshot needs
A Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 27. For the best names, turn on Apple Intelligence in System Settings. Without it, Nameshot still names screenshots from the text it can read in them.
It isn't renaming my screenshots
Check that Nameshot is watching the folder your screenshots go to (usually Desktop; press Shift Command 5 and look under Options to see yours). The folder is shown at the bottom of Nameshot's menu. Also check Nameshot isn't paused: its eyes are closed when it is. Screenshots that were already there before Nameshot started watching are left alone; use Tidy Up to name those.
The first name took a while
The first screenshot after installing or updating can take a little longer while macOS prepares its text recognition. After that, names arrive in a second or two.
I don't like a name
Click the name in the little note under the menu bar to change it, or press Undo to put the original name back. Every rename can be undone from Nameshot's menu.
Why it asks about folders
macOS only lets Nameshot touch folders you choose. When you drop a file from a new folder, Nameshot asks once for permission to rename files there and remembers your answer.
Something about a purchase
Apple handles every purchase, so refunds go through reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't see or change your purchases.
Removing Nameshot
Quit it from its menu and drag it from Applications to the Trash. Your renamed screenshots keep their new names.
