Nameshot

Terms

Updated October 11, 2026

These are the terms for using Nameshot. They are in plain language because nobody reads the other kind. Using the app means you accept them.

What Nameshot is

Nameshot is a Mac app, made by Shapes & Stories LLC, that suggests names for your screenshots and renames them. Using it gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to run it on Macs you own or control. You do not own the app itself. If you got Nameshot from the Mac App Store, Apple's standard licence agreement for apps also applies.

Nameshot renames your files

That is the point of it, so it is worth being clear. Nameshot only renames files in folders you choose and files you give it, it never replaces a file that already exists, and it remembers each file's original name so you can undo. Even so, names come from an automated suggestion and can be wrong or unwanted, so check anything important. Nameshot is not a backup: keep your own backups of files that matter.

Paid features

Some features are paid. Every purchase is handled by Apple; Shapes & Stories LLC never sees your payment details and cannot issue refunds, which follow Apple's policy. Prices can change and differ by country. If you are an EU consumer you have a statutory right to withdraw from a digital purchase within fourteen days, subject to the conditions in Apple's terms, through which the purchase was made.

Please don't

The name, the face, the artwork and the design belong to Shapes & Stories LLC.

No warranty

Nameshot is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, Shapes & Stories LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost or misnamed files, arising from using it. Nothing here limits rights you have under the consumer law where you live.

Changes

These terms may change as Nameshot does. The date at the top says when they last did.
